Craftin' Expansions

The Tacoma Is For Lovers craft sale is just around the corner and I've been super busy cranking out the crafts. In addition my bouttonieres and corsages that I usually sell at the shows, I'll be expanding the La La Laurie line to include garlands, cards and single stems of my paper flowers. My booth will be PACKED with lots of new things.

Here's a sneak peek at the garlands I've been making.

Hooray for Hambly!

For a VERY long time, I've been a fan of the beautiful papers made at Hambly Studios. You'll find them in lots of the DIY projects I've created. Their colors and patterns are amazing and the quality is superior.

Recently, I was invited to be a guest member of their design team, and had the opportunity to play with all their lovely papers and come up with some new projects. It was a thrill, to say the least.

Here's a sneak peek of a few things I created. To see more, visit the Hambly Studios Blog. Thank you Allison for asking me to be a part of your team. And thank you Robin for introducing me to Allison!

Buckets of Blooms... and a Book!

Paper Flowers

Paper Flowers

I've spent the past few months tucked away in my studio working on a HUGE project - a paper flowers book/kit for Barnes and Noble. Pictured above are some of the prototype flowers.

It's been an exciting and challenging project. There were many long days and late nights, and now the manuscript is done and revised. Whew. It's such a relief to have that behind me now!

Look for it on the shelves in Feb 2011. I'll keep you posted on the exact date.

Now it's time to play catch up... orders to fill... Etsy updates.... the list goes on.

Between Seasons

It doesn't feel like winter anymore, but spring is weeks and weeks away. This is my color solution for this time between seasons... winter sky blue plus pastel peaches, butter, and green.

More Martha!

My DIY on Martha Stewart Weddings blog

Shira, real weddings editor over at Martha Stewart Weddings , was kind enough to invite me to do a little DIY guest post on the MS Weddings blog, The Bride's Guide. It was part of their "Week of White" feature, so I created this garland with that color palette in mind.

The garland is made with layered and fused sheets of simple waxed paper. Sandwiched between the layers are punched shapes, feathers, and flowers in shades of white and off-white.

For more pictures, and the complete instructions, please click here.
Thank you for this amazing opportunity, Shira. It's a thrill to contribute to The Bride's Guide!

Studio Tour

Recently, I did a long overdue craft room overhaul. The supplies had really accumulated over the past year and it was getting really difficult to find enough space to work in there. After I was done, I took a few pictures of the tidy space. My goal is to keep it organized. We'll see how long that lasts...

One of the projects I originally designed for Once Wed, Hanging Handkerchief Vases, is featured in the current issue of Somerset Life magazine. It's a really lovely issue, filled with lots of great ideas and oodles of inspiration. You can pick up the magazine at any major book store. It's also available online here.

A big thanks goes to former Editor in Chief, Jenny Doh, who asked me to be a part of their lovely publication. It's a thrill to be included!

Winter Wedding Wreath

Winter Wedding Wreath
I designed this project for a wedding, but it could easily adapted for your own home holiday decor. The base is a birch, and it's adorned with tufts of Juniper and Bay Berry Branches. The Poinsettia blooms are made of felt.

For complete instructions and a template for the flowers, please visit The Brides Cafe.

Wedding Cake Chandelier Instructions Pt 2

I've started contributing DIY posts to Janie Medley's beautiful blog, The Brides Cafe. Janie is lovely gal, and I'm thrilled to be working with her.

For this project, I created a "Wedding Cake Chandelier" out of inxpensive acetate ribbon. The project isn't difficult to make, but it does require a little bit a time to construct.
